Jonathan Clarke, owner and principal has considerable practical experience of working on and learning about historic buildings.

• Spent more than 3 years converting a 200 year old barn in a Conservation Area (Milton) near Banbury to be an energy efficient home (EPC Band C).
• Has an MSc in Historic Conservation writing a 22,000 word dissertation: “Conserving Heat in Historic Houses”.
• Consultant to English Heritage on energy issues for traditional houses.
• Gives lectures to local authorities, universities, RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects), The RICS, The Historic House Association, The Victorian Society, The Royal Town Planning Institute and The Country Landowners Association, on energy and historic buildings.
• Spent considerable time studying historic houses in North America to understand how they did and have been carefully adapted to “hang onto the heat”.
• Has advised the Historic House Trust in New York on energy efficiency in historic buildings. They look after the 20 most valuable historic buildings in New York State.
• An affiliated member of The Chartered Institute of Building Service Engineers (CIBSE), who he formally represents at English Heritage.
• Is Chairman of the South Branch of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC), which exists to establish, develop and maintain the highest standards of conservation practice. Full membership is only open to historic environment conservation professionals.
• Fully licensed SAP (Domestic Energy) assessor (NHER) scheme in Milton Keynes and is a fully qualified Home Inspector.
